I have Hashimoto's (autoimmune thyroid disease). I lost weight just like everybody else—by logging everything I eat & drink accurately & honestly.
The advice in this post worked for me: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/1080242-a-guide-to-get-you-started-on-your-path-to-Sexypants
MFP has two thyroid groups:

I was diagnosed with Graves in 2003. I experienced a large weight gain, then sudden and rapid weight loss. I also had several health issues from it that frightened me, the worse was the heart palpitations that seemed to never end. I had the RAI treatment in June of that year. I've had to take Synthroid everyday since August of 2003, since my thyroid is non-functioning now.
I gain weight easily, but have to fight to get rid of it, and fight harder to keep it off. My Synthroid works better when I weigh less, and I have fewer hypothyroid symptoms.
I've found MFP to be the best way for me to lose and then maintain my weight. It's helped tremendously.
