Question about Weights

So, I am looking around for a starter set (I guess) for me and my husband is also interested. I don't want to spend tons of money so I am looking on Craigslist, and I saw this one not too far away for a reasonable price, would it be a good thing to start with?
Marcy bench/squat rack and 185 lbs in weights w/ dumbbell bars. In great condition.
I don't have the expertise to know what would be the best thing to get to start out with, something we can both use.

Marcy isn't a particularly high quality manufacturer, but if it's $50 or something, would probably work great as a starter set.0

It is $150, but I would rather find something a little better if that isn't the best quality. This one is also there for $400.
Weight bench and weights. 440 pounds total. 185 sand weights and the balance iron weights.
There is a pic.

not a big fan of the sand weights but weights are weights.
I know up here (Canada) I just saw an olympic bar prices at 250$ + tho...
Me I would personally buy it just for the bar and iron plates...and upgrade as needed.0 -
Here is another one for $300.
250 lbs of Free Weights, 2 Benches, 250 lbs Stack, Straight Bar, Curl Bar and various attachments. $1700 worth of equipment for just $300.
I am not in a big hurry, just trying to get an idea of what is the best thing to get so I know what I am looking for.

The last one looks pretty good to me (but like I said, I have no expertise so that doesn't mean much).0

Yeah good point. Does look like a decent bar. And the weights suck, but they'll probably do for a bit. It's not a bad deal with all the pieces, and it would work as a starter set. Edit: re: the first one.0

That last one looks great to me. You get the attachments, the benches, the freeweights. May not be the highest of quality - I honestly do not know how I would judge that - but I would buy it.0

you guys definately get good deals on craigs list...we never see stuff like this on kijiji in Canada.0 -
Ok, I am going to contact that last one and see what happens.0

I would go with the $300. one.0

Trying to set something up for this weekend (only time to get husband and his truck to go).0

So, we went and looked on ebay, and picked something out (both have free shipping) and ordered it (have to get my husband while he is available)
New CAP Barbell Olympic-size Advanced Weight Bench Home Gym

and this (which we will definitely have to add on to)
Golds Gym 110 lb Olympic Weight Set

You're definitely going to need to immediately buy some additional plates for that weight set. Like a couple of 45 lb-ers, and a couple of 35lb, or 25lb. 110lb just isn't enough.0 -

I just realized I put the wrong bench, there were 2 we were looking at, this is the one we got:
Gold's Gym XRS 20 Olympic Bench

My weights have arrived, just have to get my husband to help me carry them upstairs (not ready for that by myself yet). Now just waiting on the bench.0
-
Guess I better use my day off tomorrow to figure out what to do with said weights, I know there are some topics on here. I think I want to have the bench before I start, looked at tracking and it was shipped on the 16th from Arizona, will see when it shows up.0

My husband just got his own barbell/weights from my neighbor, that way we don't have to share, guess he is serious about this. That will make things easier I guess.0
