Do certain cravings mean something? (Mmm peanut butter)

I never crave peanut butter. I rarely even eat it, but the past few days I have wanted to eat it by the spoonful. Do certain cravings mean some something? Like some kind of vitamin deficiency or something?

I'm not sure how much research has been done on the topic, but I've read a few articles that suggest there is a link between cravings for specific foods and being low in a particular nutrient which that food provides.
I know I read an article on the topic in a fitness magazine recently, but I can't remember where.0 -
Scientifically, it's thought that they don't.

Studies showed cravings were based more on social rather than nutritional cues. Aka, if your body needed something, it'd probably be craving fruit and vege, not delicious PB0 -

Interesting. I'm probably just craving PB because I'm PMSing and feeling deprived.0 -

Will you be seeing any bluebonnets soon? I think your body is preparing you...0 -
Deprivation would usually be the first answer. IMO, it's usually stuff you don't think you can eat (even if you don't eat it alot) that people crave.
