Losing Together (115 lbs in 4 months)

My wife decided to undergo gastric bypass back in December 2013. We started using MFP to track our calories starting in January. So far, 90 days later I've lost 25 lbs and she has lost 90 lbs(!) since the surgery. We both started running a lot more (5K every other day) and plan to train for a half marathon next year.

My Lessons Learned so far:
1. Enjoy whatever you want, but in MODERATION! I found healthy substitutions came easier in my diet when I wanted to save calories for my favorite treats.
2. Cheat days are OK (I average 1 every 2 weeks), cheating your potion sizes or failing to log calorie rich food NOT OK.
3. Don't worry about what the scale says. If you have a acceptable caloric deficit, you will lose.
4. Eat more protein if hunger cravings get bad.
5. Eat slower to feel fuller on less food. (let it settle)
6. Be patient. You didn't gain it in a week, you won't lose it in a week.
7. This is a lifestyle change, not a diet.
8. If you plan on running, buy a good set of professionally fitted running shoes. (never buy a pair based on color)
