Anyone else ever go over their calories?

The last three days I did, but I'm more motivated than ever to make up for it!0

No. Never. All of you should be ashamed....0

It's amazing, reading through this, how many people get that feeling of guilt from going over their calories!
The idea is to get as close to your goal as possible on here - so if that's 50 under or 50 over, it doesn't matter! I wish MFP would get rid of the angry red numbers as soon as you're so much as 1 calorie over. I think there should be 100 cals of leeway. This site is supposed to promote healthy weight loss, not punish people for meeting their goal!0 -
I do now and then yes and most days I assume a hundred or so over my 1200 limit. But I keep my eye on the 1200 regardless of how many calories I've burned throughout the day. In other words, I don't go by my net number or what the system tells me I have left for calories. I just stick with a 1200 calorie range, period. So if and when I go over, it's not a big deal.0

All the time! I think I'm desensitized now... No guilt here.0
-
Sometimes I do, yeah, but not drastically. If you don't allow yourself to do so on occasion you end up hating the 'getting healthy' process.
It used to bother me if I went over by 1 calorie, now I don't fret if I go over 100, because tomorrow is another day and I know I will continue to keep going.0 -
Yeah, especially if I have a rest day. When that happens, I only have about 300 calories for dinner. The rest of the time, though, I'm about 250-300 calories under so I figure if I go 200 calories over one day I'm covered.
Even if I didn't, WTH, it's one day in a lifetime. I'll survive it.
[edited to add:] I need the accountability, so every bite is measured and logged, even when I go over. I've noticed that, for me, it keeps the "slip ups" to a minimum, We're human, there is no "perfect" so I just log it and move on.

I set my calorie limit to the highest number that I can eat but still lose weight (about 1700-1800), but I aim for 1400-1600 every day. So I don't feel so guilty going over 1600 when it comes up in red.
That being said I still go over sometimes, but I have learnt that it doesn't really affect my weight loss if it's only say, once a week.0 -
I wish I had like a bike, treadmill or an elliptical to try and "fix" it. All I have is a mini stepper, is that just as good?
You wish you had "like a bike". What is like a bike?0 -
Yes! Sometimes more often than I would like... but all I can do is move on0
-
Yeah, just don't over think it, and be conscious about your goals tomorrow.0

I go over every weekend.
I am old(er) and not a rookie at the weight control game. I learned long ago that working my diet around my lifestyle yeilds better results than trying to change my lifestyle, which I happen to love. I like to let loose on the weekends. Parties, gatherings, cookouts, etc. I both eat and drink more on weekends. So, I purposely eat under during the week because I know I'll go over every weekend.0 -
I eat to maintenance or a little above at least one day a week. Keeps me sane and happy.0
-
everyone does now and then....but you have all week to balance that out! sometimes having some of what we love and doing with less for another day is so worth it! in the long run....it wont make a diffrence.0

You can burn a lot of calories on those mini-steppers!0 -
I don't go over my calorie goal but if I did, I wouldn't feel guilty. It's easy enough to do a short exercise routine to counteract going over if necessary.0

I "go over my calories" every week. Or at least eat at maintenance, AND eat tons of carbs every Sunday. It's called a re-feed, and anyone who is eating at a significant deficit (more than 20-25%) all week should consider doing the same thing. Or, at the very least eating a free meal or 2 every week. Guilt? I'd feel guilty if I DIDN'T do it!0

Too much. Lately I've been having some treats that SHOULD fit in my calories, but then I get very hungry later and end up eating too much. It's happened once or twice a week in the last month, drives me nuts.0
-
I go over all the time! As long as when I finish my diary for the day and it says I'd lose at or at least weigh the same in 5 weeks if every day was like today, I don't feel too awful. I just recently upped my calories a little so I wouldn't be as prone to going over lol.0
-
You should feel guilty. No one goes over their calories. Ever.
I say we take a vote to kick OP off MFP for being such a glutton.0 -
Every Saturday and Sunday. But it's planned and I don't go over my weekly calorie limit.0
-
i am on a week and a half of counting my calories. i do go over and under on some days, so what i have thought of doing is to add up all my calories for 1 week and post it on my profile. that way i keep a weekly track as the report chart confuses me.
for example:
week 1 7830/8000
week 2 pending/8000
maybe this will help?0 -

oh god. i found this quite funny!0 -
Yes - I purposely try to do this once atleast every two weeks.0
