after a long winter hibernation.....

So after a long (cold, dark) winter hibernation, I am back to MFP. Most of my friends deleted me whilst i was away! :(

Now the sun is shining, the days are longer, and I am invigorated to start afresh.

From October to April (my period of slack) I put ~4kg on (!)

Back at the gym, back playing racquet sports. I'm doing something new this year: fasting. I didn't decide yet if it's 5:2 or 4:3 that I will do - I will just see how it goes and how i feel. Today is day two of my first fast (though technically I did eat a few too many calories yesterday) - I had an amazing workout last night, and hoping for the same again today.

I'm not an exact kind of guy - I don't measure my food, I don't strictly count calories - the aim is 600c on a fast day, and 2000 on a feed day. Based on my food entries it's probably more like 700-800 on a fast day, and 1700 on a feed day

My target is 35-45KG of weight loss. I'd be happy to lose 10kg (22lbs) in the next month (birthday/holiday) and will push for that.... long term I am aiming for a more sustainable 4-5KG per month (9-11lbs) - so about 11 months.

The numbers are just a guide really - I think appearance and well being is more important than if the scales confirm or deny a particular amount of weight. I don't get disheartened by weigh-ins. Right now I'm weighing myself each time I hit the gym to get an actual baseline weight (fast vs feed days) - but I will track and measure with once weekly weigh-ins going forward.

My weakness is booze - clearly not drinking during summer is not going to happen, but I will explore healthier options than beer

After so many false starts this is finally it. I am determined and committed. I'll be in the ballot for the 2015 London marathon, and since confirmation comes so late (4 months before the race) - I'll be training and preparing with the assumption that I have a 26mile run next April.
