Calories burned when jogging with a double stroller?

I've scoured the internet and can't seem to find an approximation for how many calories are burned when jogging with a double stroller. Any idea on how I should calculate this? I'd love to know what I burn PER MILE. Here's what I did today:

- 2.5 miles, about a 12 minute mile
- Pushing 75 pounds: 2 kids, weighing about 55 pounds combined, and double jogging stroller, which seems lightweight but weighs about 20 pounds (BOB Ironman). This is tricky because it doesn't feel terribly heavy, but I know I am pushing that much weight.
- I weigh about 137 pounds currently
- I'm 5'3"

Any clues here? I just don't know where to start, and because the weather is just now getting cooler in Phoenix, I know I'll be doing this a lot more often! Thanks for any help or tips in advance. :)

  • I also have scoured the internet for this answer, and all I can find is information on a single stroller push, so I short change myself there.

I am in Tucson and have been walking outside with my girls since the weather is so much nicer!

I use this website for some of the odd and end calories.

If you find anything, let me know! So glad it's finally cooling off!

I suggest investing in a heart rate monitor. I have found it invaluable in gauging my true calories burned. Oftentimes even the machines at the gym aren't accurate, I've found, because they don't account for age, weight, etc. And, sadly, they were giving me numbers that were a bit over what I actually burned. So, it forced me to pick up my pace or try harder.
Also, depending on where you push your stroller and at what pace, you would never really know. If you have a strong head-wind, or you are going uphill on some parts, all that contributes. There are so many variables.

Good for you, pushing those babies!

    Buy a heart rate monitor.
