Losing weight after a break from exercising..

I had been on a 1000 calorie a day cut for about 4 months. During this time, i lost about 22 pounds which i am very happy about. After going on vacation with my wife and coming off the deficit, I went a week or so without weighing, knowing that i would have lost some of my progress. To my surprise, my weight dropped about a half pound after the two weeks off with no exercising and no really worrying about my food intake. NOw, i didnt gorge myself, but i certainly didnt count calories. I thought maybe i wasnt getting my maintenance calories and it was status quo...... After two more weeks, another pound has came off.... only ran 3 times during this two week period... there has been days that i know i didnt reach my 3000 calories maintenance (im 235), but i didnt eat clean calories either.... went to the cheesecake factory for the first time this weekend and saw the scale move in a good way.

I guess my questions are these...

1. IS there something wrong with me or is this normal after spurring up your metabolism from months of working out and running?

2. Am i losing because i am not getting to that maintenance number? I know this is lean muscle i am losing and am getting back in the gym.

I just made the mistake of googling losing weight without exercising and saw some really nasty reasons..... I feel fine and do not hurt anywhere. I still feel like exercising, etc.

IS my metabolism still up and causing this?

Thanks, sorry if this is a stupid question.

most likely if you stopped exercising a large % of the loss is water weight as your muscle store more water when exercising to repair and aid in recovery.

That said 1000 cals is too low for a 6 year old, let alone an adult. It is very difficult to get the required nutrition on less than 1200 even when eating great, as getting the required fat, protein, vitamins and minerals on less than 1200 is very very difficult and most likely you were not getting the required nutrition your body required eating so little.

are you in a 1000 calorie deficet or eating 1000 calories????

As for the weight loss it was probably water/glycogen stores that you lost....because your muscles were not being repaired...

And yes if you are not eating at maintenance, but in a deficet you will lose some weight...how much is defined by the deficet.

Sorry, i am eating at a 1000 cal deficit. Im eating about 2100 calories a day during my cut. Im betting during the few weeks that i have been off the cut, i am eating around 3000 calories or day, give or take a few hundred on a given day. But for example, yesterday i was travelling home and maybe got about 2000 calories in during the drive and days time. I am starting back the cut today... as well as the running. I try to get about 12 miles per week done with a clean diet. I just wanted to see if you guys had personally experienced this

When I was on vacation I actually gained...4lbs but it didn't stick around long...it was gone in two weeks...

But yes if I don't exercise I lose faster after a couple of days....but that is why I only way myself after having one total complete rest day where I haven't done any exercise...or two...

Metabolism is overrated. If you are losing then you are eating at a deficit, and vice versa.

Thats fine... i just wanted to make sure it wasnt likely that i had something more severe going on causing the issue. I would think if i did, i would have some symptoms...
