Ankle supports for running

I decided to go with the Hoka shoes after researching them and from the feedback I received here; my hips and knees are a bigger concern for me then anything else, so once I try them on again to confirm the feel they are coming home with me! The one concern that I have, and seems to be a valid one, is ankle roll - several reviewers mentioned it, and due to the extra height of the shoe that really makes me nervous. I have weak ankles that have been sprained badly more times than I can count, but I know I can strengthen them with exercise and have begun steps to do so.
My question is what type of brace should I get to support my ankles while running to prevent a sprain while I am in the process of getting them in shape? One reviewer said they took the inserts out of the shoes in order to increase ankle support, but since I will using third-party inserts for my flat-feet and pronation I am not comfortable with that option. I have supports from various past sprains, but none of them would work for running/jogging.
I do not plan on using the supports as a permanent fix, only until I feel confident enough in the stability of the shoe and that my ankles have gotten strong enough to handle things on their own.
Thanks for any input!

My suggestion is to try and run on as flat a surface as you can without braces to allow your ankles to strengthen.
Or choose a different shoe that won't increase the risk of sprains in the first place.0
