Strength Training not calculating

Hello Beautiful People:

I was wondering if anyone can help me with my issue. as you all know, we are able to enter the type of cardio we do for however long we did it, right? Well can we do the same with Weight lifting? I have tried to do so but it either doesn't show the type of lifting I did or if it does it doesn't show that it burned any calories....

Is it because it actually doesn't burn any calories? I am confused.... anyways, open to your input.

Help!

:)

yeah the logging of strength training confused me so I did what I always do and ignore that part of logging.

Go to cardio and do a search there. Bear in mind that its a very tough estimate though.

Strength training doesn't burn much in the sort term like a cardio exercise. I have done a HR monitor with my fitness device and a 30 minute lifting session (medium/heavy) shows a burn of around 120 calories. Still worth logging. That is a good 9 Hershey Kisses!

This is what I do. I def don't have time to enter specific exercises. I'm sure the caloric burn is generic, but it is what it is. Everyone will burn at different rates.

I log it under Circuit Training in Cardio, and use my HRM to input the cals burned.

I actually created my own called "Cardio/Lifting HRM" The reason for the cardio is I always do a 10-20 minute warm up on the treadmill. I know the "experts" say not to do that before lifting, but it seems to set my heart rate for the whole session.
  • Thanks for all the replies everyone, that helped a lot!!!

There's nothing wrong with a treadmill warm-up. But your HRM isn't accurate for lifting. Just for steady state cardio.

I find the exercise and put in reps, sets, and lbs lifted. Then I go to cardio and put in how many minutes I spent doing it - I give myself 1 minute per 'set' of 10 reps, and don't count rest time. So if I do 3 sets of 10 reps, I'd put in 3 minutes. Then it's all there for me, and I don't mind underestimating calories burned (because my heart rate IS up during my rest time) because it'll all pay off in the long run. I lost 20lbs doing it that way in the past, so I'm sticking with it!

HRM Aren't supposed to be accurate for lifting
