Resume Assistance

Hello, I was wondering if there are any people who work in HR or recruiting that would mind answering a few questions via PM. I am worried about my current position being eliminated or going on layoff, so I would like to be proactive and start on a resume now and test the waters.

Also, has anyone had success with posting resumes online at places like monster.com or indeed.com?

I don't work in HR, but I'm very involved in the hiring process at my company. One thing we always do is a Google check of a person. We will look at anything that is public on their Facebook, so manage your settings or keep it clean.

LinkedIn I also a great website to make yourself visible to companies that are hiring. You want to it to look as complete and professional as your resume. It is a great place for networking and people who know you can endorse your skills.

Hi I agree whole heartedly with the above post... Make sure your online profile is "clean" and that ALL social media settings are not viewable to anyone outside of your selected network.
Linkedin is a great way to get connected for new opportunities. I'd recommend staying away from the monster's of the world as you will most likely get trolls and spam and very little positive quantifiable contact.
I run a global recruiting firm so I am familiar with "the process" feel free to send me any questions and I'd be happy to do my best to answer them honestly for you...

I posted a resume to careerbuilder and got a PT retail management position out of it (which is what I was looking for at the time). Down side for me -- I got a lot of emails and a few calls from insurance companies wanting me to sell their products, which isn't really what I do.
