In need of exercise suggestions

Any suggestions for shrinking my behind and stomach area? I am obese, but I can do sit ups with no problem. Should I just continue to do those? What about shrinking my behind area? My only limitation are my knees. Any advice is appreciated. :-)

You can't control where the weight comes off. BUT if you're eating at a deficit then you should gradually lose weight from all over. And simple strength training (squats, bicep work, pushups, crunches, etc.) can help tone the muscles underneath so that the overall appearance is better in the meantime.

Cardio and as much as possible and then you can do more things when at a lower weight.

I would say nutrition first, lifting, THEN cardio

A well rounded exercise program includes both cardio & strength training. Find something you enjoy doing, so you can do it for a lifetime.

Cardio and bad knees....look for low impact. I like Walk At Home DVDs, low impact & simple to follow. For strength training I like Kelly Coffey Meyer DVDs...I'm not so motivated by paper workouts.

This is circuit training by Chris Freytag (included cardio + strength) and it's low impact: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=xzuvoDIO5J0

I agree, nutrition first, then incorporate cardio and strength training workouts. :)

Sit-ups are fairly pointless if your goal is weight loss. You need to eat at a caloric deficit. You do this by counting calories, and cardio or weightlifting can help.

Think of the fat in your body like a swimming pool. Your stomach and *kitten* are the deep end. Everyplace else is the shallow end. You can't JUST take water out of the deep end; you take out water, and as the entire pool gets shallower, so does the deep end.

I am taking in fewer calories, I try to stay between 1200-1400 calories per day and I do cardio. I just don't like the way those two areas look and I would like to shrink it, if even a little bit.
