Measurements

I hope this is the right place for this.

Does anyone else see a "mismatch" between the size on your clothes and the measurements you take with a tape? I was wearing jeans, men's 50 and dropped to 48's. I then took some measurements and my waist measured 54??? The measurement was precisely where I wear my belt. 6 inches seems a huge difference. Anyone else see that?

    for sure...

My waist is 29.5 inches..but my 29 jeans are too big...

    I have to wear a 26 or a 27....

    My chest is a 38...and I wear a medium shirt but it's tight on my shoulders...but I can't wear a large shirt...

Trouser sizes differ by quite a lot. (and from brand to brand) In the USA the waist size is usually about 2 inches less than your waist measurement in inches. In the UK the trouser size is the same as the waist size. Interestingly the shoe sizes differ as well. , in the USA add another 2 inches to the UK size which is actual size.
I suppose it's a marketing ploy, you feel better buying a size 48 than a size 50 trousers, and it is probably more masculine to have a size 10 shoe than a size 8.
