Burning calories gardening????

I have a LARGE garden. It does take a lot of work, but it's hard for me to think I burned over 400 cals doing some of the things I do in it..... Ex. Pulling weeds, it's back breaking time cunsumming but it is exhausting work. Now, when I use the tiller, that's a work out! And I do a lot of hoeing and raking.... But still curious if the calories burned under gardening is a little high....

I add back calories for gardening based on how hard I am working. Light duty stuff I eat back at about 0-25% of the MFP rate, or just let my fitbit handle it. Things that make me breathe hard and be sore the next day (digging/shoveling, cutting/hauling limbs, etc.) I count back at about 50% the MFP rate. I rake leaves like a maniac, so that would count as a 50%er for me.0
