6 days in observations

I started my new life this past Sunday not entirely sure how I would make it. Here is what I have observed.
This is doable. At first I thought I would be miserable, unable to eat foods I love (ice cream) but I have learned portion control. If I want ice cream then I excercise for it.
Excercise. I never excercised...ever. But this week I have walked 2 miles in a day, tried Zumba and Tae Bo and guess what..I lived through it! The soreness is even going away.
My willpower is so much stronger than I thought. My family had chocolate cream pie, I cut their slices, and it didn't even tempt me. The 1000 calories for 1 slice wasn't even worth it.
I know I will slip up and have bad days but I realized I CAN do this.

Sounds like a good start - perhaps because you have a great attitude. I like that you said you started a new life, not that you started a new diet.
You & I seem to have some similar viewpoints. I'm not heavily tempted when I know how much crap is in something - and I'm also not too tempted if there is absolutely no way to (accurately) estimate for something. Someone brought some huge chocolate chip cookies to work this week. Was glad when they were finally gone, but really didn't 'want' them.
I've also never been big on 'exercise' but I love the way I feel when I'm running. Not that I run fast or for very far, but that moment of 'I'm doing it' is awesome.
And yes, we can have anything we want. That might mean smaller portions or smart substitutions but that's ok.0 -
Way to go!!! I'm proud of you for taking that first step. Making a lifestyle change to be healthy and happy is wonderful!! Yes, you will have "bad" days but it is just one day and you can start anew the next morning. You already have the right attitude and know that exercise is the key (as well as portion control).
Keep up the great work!! Day 7 should be a glorious one!!0 -
Sounds like you have the right mindset and that's a HUGE step. I had a few "bad days" this week, but I don't stress over it. Life's full of indulgences and we're all going to give in at some point, with something. I just logged it and moved on. I don't feel bad about it and it actually helps to motivate me to keep making smarter choices as I look back through my diary.
I also like how you said "if I want ice cream then I exercise for it". That's how I think about treats, too. Keep up the good work!! :flowerforyou:0 -
You're off to a really good start! I hope you will enjoy your exercise And yes you can eat foods you love with portion control!0
