Body Frame Size

Hey guys,
So I have always thought that I am large framed. I am 5'9 and consistently find that my shoulders are too broad for tops and I have always had very muscular thighs even when I was athletic and healthy. All of the women on my mom's side (who I resemble much more body-wise than my father's size) have big feet, big boobs, and broad shoulders. But yesterday I measured my wrist and it put me at a medium frame. Is this just an arbitrary measurement? I don't have a real reason for this question other than curiosity and maybe slightly to determine what my ideal weight should be, seeing as the range of healthy for my height is 129 to 170...

yep wrist size is not a very accurate way to determine frame size. Shoulder size, rib cage size and hip width are what counts in terms of actually giving you more lean body mass than a smaller framed person the same height.

but in terms of determining ideal weight... go by body fat percentage. It's much more accurate than just going by your height and it's hard to estimate your frame size unless you're already fairly lean.

I agree. Get a body fat percentage test done. Body composition with the pinch need to pinch in lots of places in order to locate your body's fat storage sites. I did the dunk tank method once--I've heard that is the most accurate.

Wrist size is totally arbitrary. I have bitty little wrists, but my ribcage, shoulders and pelvis are very large and I tend to get a lot of muscle without much work.
