Hi everyone...I am hoping that you can help me. I need a low cholesterol deviled egg recipe. Any other low cholesterol recipes would be helpful. Thanks in advance. :)

Replace half of the yolks with hummus to cut the cholesterol in half.

I thought hummus in deviled eggs sounded weird when it was first suggested to me, but it's really good.
  • Only a small percentage of the cholesterol in eggs becomes cholesterol in our bodies after they are digested.

If you're concerned about cholesterol, I'd look to replace the mayonnaise before I'd cut back on the egg.

I've never tried any substitutes for mayo for deviled eggs, but an online search turns up options that include mustard, avocado, and yoghurt, to name a few.

The hummus idea was my suggestion as well. I just toss the yoke completely, spread the hummus, and sprinkle with paprika or sumac. But I'm not sure how much of the cholesterol in eggs is bad for you.

To clarify...the reason I am seeking this recipe is that my doctor has placed me on a low cholesterol diet, and egg yolks are on the forbidden list. However..for Easter, the family wants deviled eggs, and they are one of my favorites also. I was just trying to find a healthier way of doing them. I do believe hummus sounds like it would probably work best. Thank you. I appreciate the suggestions.

Hey sunshine...I'm getting off topic for a minute! I have high cholesterol too. Just out of curiosity, what other foods are on the forbidden list?
I think the hummus sounds the best!
