Exercise After Eating?

Hi everyone,
I'm running another 5k on Thanksgiving, so I'm starting to really run again (rather than elliptical) to get prepared for it. Normally, i'll have my snack around 4:00/4:30 (usually an apple or carrots) and then go to the gym around 6. I will run a 5k in about 34 minutes, and then after I finish my stomach starts to hurt. It goes away in about half an hour, but its very annoying!
This morning, I ate breakfast (special k) and then went running outside an hour and a half later. This time, my stomach started hurting while I was running.
Does anyone have an ideas of why this is happening? Or things I can do to make it better? Thank you very much in advance!

Ideally, you want to eat after you workout...within 20-30 minutes and get in some protein. A lot of people do protein shakes/bars. Before a run, I either do some quick oats and a banana (before long runs) with the oats being about 60-90 minutes before and the banana being 20-30 minutes before. For shorter runs, I just make sure I've had something about an hour before...usually carbs + protein...peanut butter and apple or something similar.0

I have not been running but I walk and have started jogging. I know for me and also what I have been reading is that you need to eat something 30 mins before you exercise and wait at least 30mins after you exercise to eat anything.
Maybe you are not waiting long enough and your stomach is cramping because it has food in it?
I always go by the 30 min rule and I have never had any trouble..but everyone is different
Good Luck

If you want to burn fat, then do not eat untill at least 1 hour after you work out. Once you are in the fat burning process during working out, it will continue for about an hour after you stop. How ever, once you put anything in your mouth, it will stop. So by waiting an hour, you get a free hour more of fat burning.0
