problem with the treadmill

Hi, just wondering if anybody can help me. I bought a treadmill (2nd hand but only a couple of years old) was going great for a while then started squeaking and warming up a bit, so we bought the treadmill Silicon spray as the instructions suggested. We have applied the spray and the squeaking has stopped but the mat is still getting quite warm under our feet. Should we add more lubricant or will we over do it??? Is this a sign of something else?? Is the motor buggered?
