the calories burned are from calories you burn just by being alive. i found it really helpful to set my activity level to sedentary on MFP once i installed and linked fit bit to my account as it calculated too many calories burned when i left it at moderate0

Don't understand what you mean. Calories calculated by fitbit have nothing to do with activity level set on MFP. This activity level will however effect your Firbit adjustment but as long as you have negative calories enabled, whatever activity level you set, it will not change the amount of calories you are allowed to eat.0 -
Your Fitbit burn is your TDEE, which includes your BMR (the calories you'd burn in a coma).
The day you set up your Fitbit it has to guesstimate your burn since midnight, so your first day's burn is always a mess. My adjustments got more & more accurate, as if the system "learned" my routine.
MFP has a Fitbit Users group: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/forums/show/1307-fitbit-users0 -
