I had to leave my gym because of cutting costs. It was one of the gyms that has everything (pools, sports, etc) so it was pricey. So I was thinking of trying Curves. ( I like the amount of cals I burn when circuit training) but wanted some feedback on it first.

Best and Worst things? I was looking at their Curves Smart...it looks cool and like it may help keep me pushing myself. thanks in adavance :)

I do my exercises, mostly, via walking. I always keep my phone, with pedometer built in, attached to my waist.
If you don't go to curves, this is another way to keep track of exercise.
    Best wishes! :drinker: (water)

Curves Smart sounds really great! http://www.curves.com/the-workout/curves-smart.php

I love Curves. Lost 52 pounds with their 30-minute workout three times a week AND eating well, of course. I found it not so hard, fun, social, and very motivating.

I am going to join again after my two-month gym membership ends with the fitness program I'm in now.

I completely recommend Curves, but don't know Curves Smart is.

I've been doing curves smart for about a year and it really pushes you to work the machines hard. When you're done you get immediate feedback on how well you did, along with calories burned.

I go to curves 3 times a week and love the curves smart system. The curves smart is like having a personal trainer. The system keeps track of how hard you work out, and number of calories burned. The system also pushes you to work in the zone for burning ultimate body fat and lets you know if you are working too hard and burning muscle instead of body fat.

I definitly recommend curves smart for a 30 minute work strength training work out it is worth it.

I found Curves to be extremely boring.

I opted not to go the Curves route because I don't agree with the ultra-conservative causes the primary owners support. I don't want my money ultimately going to causes I don't support. There are other ways I can work out. Sometimes you have to vote with your wallet.

My Mamaw did Curves and LOVED it. And lost a lot of weight ... I don't think it'd do for me ... But if that's the only way you'd work out (with a gym membership), then it's better than not having one!

Would you work out on your own at home??
  • Don't know about Curves Smart...but as for Curves, I LOVE IT! The first month, I lost 12 pounds! It was fun! I enjoyed getting up to go there every morning. I loved the people that worked there and how they helped and supported you...seemed genuine! I had to cancel my membership because of financial reasons...but I would LOVE to go back. I hope to someday!

I homeschool 3 kids so its hard :) I have alot going on during the day and evening. walking around here isnt that safe. We have jogging trails that I will jog in the summer but now that it gets dark early I cant go when my husband gets home (not safe after dark) and its hard to take a 3 yr old and 5 yr old jogging with me and my 10 yr old. the double jogging stroller is akward to push. so def a gym or curves is it for me.

I am so happy to hear so much positive feedback on the curves smart. I love getting instant feedback, so motivating! thanks!

I loved Curves for awhile; however make sure you know how to use the equipment. I myself ended up having rotator cuff surgery on both shoulders after going to Curves for awhile. There were several other people in my physical therapy group who had went to Curves and subsequently had rotator cuff injuries. I did lose weight, but then put some back on after being sidelined for a year with surgery and physical therapy.
