oil is oil re calories, but use rapeseed or corn oil for most things, Olive oil adds a taste which is unnecessary in most dishes

I am pretty sure all oils have the same amount of calories unless they have been watered down with something else.

Moderation is the key here, along with choosing the oil by the other possible benefits.

Some would suggest using the 1 cal spray type things but I prefer to go for oils straight from the bottle, olive oil if cooking at a low temperature or something like ground nut oil for higher temperatures.

Others that I have heard suggested are coconut and palm oil but I haven't used them myself

A really good non stick frying pan is an invaluable tool and worth the investment in my opinion

There are those 1 calorie sprays ? I think all oils will be high in calories tbh but maybe go for olive oil as it is lower in satuated fat. I personally would just use any oil in moderation

I like the cut of this lady's jib. I use Fry Light spray, but I generally use no oil at all and use the George Foreman.

I've got one of those oil sprayers that you can fill with your own oil. Mine is made by Misto.

Some sprays can leave a residue on pans that is hell to get off. I have non-stick pans and if I can get them nice and hot before I put anything in I can get away without any oil. If I do use oil I'll go for olive oil or coconut oil (higher smoke point). Not all oils are horrible and should be added as a way to get some healthy fats into the diet. As long as you can make the tsp or 1/2 tbsp fit into the calories for the day, I'd say use what ever oil you want.

If you are sautéing veggies you can also use broth instead of oil.

For meat I have a little grill pan which I use for broiling, until it is warm enough to grill. (Summer's gotta come sometime, right?)

For oil, I usually use 1 tsp of olive oil which is only 40 calories, and split between two people is 20 calories each. Olive oil is also a good source of good fats. I will also use coconut oil because the flavor is delicious. And butter. Grapeseed oil has a nice light flavor if the recipe calls for that.

I stay away from vegetable oil and canola oil, although my husband will still use canola for deep frying because its cheap.

If your oil has less calories, you're cooking with water.

You should consume some fat in your diet, it helps with absorption of nutrients. Don't avoid it all together.

With that being said if I don't want my veg oily I usually just poor in water and quazi steam them.

Meat must contain the most delicious of oils.

Coconut oil is probably the best oil to use for cooking. It's fats are good and it's smoking point is high. Makes it a better cooking oil than olive.

But as far as weight loss goes, still the same pretty much.

Definitely another shout for 'non stick' - with my Tefal pan I pretty much never use oil.

I will use some oil in my 'air fryer', but you only need to use a little bit for some pretty tasty chips.

Don't get a pan that specifically non-stick My understanding if the coating is actually not all that great for you. A cast iron skillet, once seasoned, is non-stick and should do you fine.

Cook with some added water. Yes, you can fry with water and end up using a ton less oil.

Eat the food rather than the pan.

A well seasoned decent cast iron skillet is nothing on a decent modern coating - ie 'frying' eggs with no oil and so on.
