Calories Correct?

It seems that my Ipod Nano's pedometer and stationary bike's calorie count are drastically different than the scale on MFP.

MFP says I'm burning more calories than my other methods of calorie count...

Anyone else having this issue? :flowerforyou:

Just read on Yahoo that calories burned on machines overestimate by on average 42%.

Yup, many of the calories from the exercise database are high - but some are spot on and some are low. Some cardio machines can also overestimate but I know the ones in my gym actually underestimate burns. They're all just estimates but it's good to try to find one that comes as close as possible. You can check out other calorie calculators online or if you're interested, invest in a good heart rate monitor (HRM) that will help calculate calorie burns based on your specific info and heart rate while working out. Polar and Garmin are both good name brands.

each is an estimation using different equations and assumptions >> they are all wrong

different people have different approaches, on the whole, if you're following the mfp method, you may find that only eating back 50-75% of your exercise calories will work, others only log a nominal calorie for excercise and work on TDEE

I log excercise on endomondo and excercise and calories on mfp - when they differ I pick the lower value
on endomondo i target PB progress in terms of distance/speed/pace rather than calories
