Does Breastfeeding REALLY consume 400 calories? I feel like that is a lot. My baby is 4 months old and Exclusively Breastfed. What do you other breastfeeding mommy's use for an allowance?

I"ve seen estimates anywhere from 200 to 600 calories. It will depend on a few factors such as amount of milk produced, appetite of the child/how much they consume, etc. 300-400 calories is a good, median number and likely applies to most lactating females.0

I believe it. When my son was 4 mo I felt like he was eating aaaall the time, plus I was pumping every 3 hrs while I was at work. I give myself 200 cals now because he's almost 1 and doesn't bf as much.0
