Buttered green beans and mushrooms

1/2 lb. green beans trimmed
1 tbls. butter
3 oz. cremini mushrooms, thinly sliced
2 oz. shiitake mushroom caps, thinly sliced
1/2 tsp. salt divided
1/4 tsp. pepper divided
1 clove fresh minced garlic

1. Steam green beans, covered, 4 minutes or until crisp-tender. Plunge beans into ice water, drain. Pat dry with a towel; set aside.
2. Melt butter in a large nonstick skillet over medium-high heat. Add mushrooms, 1/4 tsp. salt, and 1/8 tsp. pepper; saute 8 minutes or until mushroom liquid evaporates. Stir in garlic; saute 1 min. stirring constantly. Add remaining 1/4 tsp. salt adn 1/8 tsp. pepper, and green beans; cook 3 minutes or until throughly heated, tossing to combine. Serves 4 (1/2 c.)

    I love green beans but have never tried it with the mushrooms. I might just have this tomorrow.

    I do my green beans similar, use an olive spread instead of butter and add a good grinding of coarse black pepper and a couple of shakes of chilli flakes. Its medium hot and spicy and feels more like a meal than just a bowl of beans.

    I do something really similar to this but just use regular sliced white mushrooms (not as tasty but cheaper!) and instead of garlic, use 1 sliced green onion. It's yummy! Oh, and I use smart balance instead of butter (husband has heart issues so no butter for us )

    ok, i am totally making this tonight, as long as my mushrooms aren't rotted... got a bunch of them, but haven't cooked them...
