Time for a change?

Over the last 25 days, through close monitoring of what I have eaten and through an intense (for me) running routine, I have managed to lose 12 pounds. I have not run this morning and I am considering taking a day off to give my legs a rest. I'm also considering a change in routine because my body has begun to adjust to the running. So, I believe I should do something different, but I'm not sure what. Any thoughts, suggestions? Thanks.

do you enjoy your run? if so there is no reason to change it....

I would however take rest days...full rest days.

If you do want to add or change something consider lifting weights and running on off days.

Lifting is always a good option. Cardio is great and all, but I never really saw my body transformation until I started lifting.

I definitely will add lifting at some point. Thanks for the suggestions; I appreciate the feedback. This evening, I think I will go for a swim at a public, indoor pool.

If I had access to a pool, I would definitely swim for cardio. It's a great workout, and incoporates some resistance, depending on which strokes you use.

I second the above advice about lifting. Currently I do 2-3 lifting days and 3 cardio days, with 1-2 total rest days. I've really seen an increase in my stamina and weight loss since I've started lifting. It's like I'm more efficient with my cardio maybe? It could just be mental, but the scale doesn't lie.

    Good luck.

+1 to lifting all the way.

I'm not one to disregard cardio, although I hate it with an absolute passion (probably because I'm still fat and out of shape but that's besides the point) it definitley has it's place and is important.

I think both cardio and lifting are very important. It's amazing how much daily life can feel different just by incorporating both and if you alter the type or excerise you do it keeps you from dying of boredom.

Lifting or Bodyweight Training Exercises are both good, I like the BTE simply because I can do them at home and do not need to pay for the gym...

I was having hip pain and was not able to run for about two months then spoke to a Trainer through work and he suggested BTE's and specifically Lunges and Squats, with no weights. About two weeks later I was back running. A month after that I completed my first 10K and was under an hour!

So ... I think both are important but was really surprised at the difference throwing in a few squats and lunges made. I am also doing core training without weights for the old 12 pack (trying to get to a 6-pack but not there yet...).

Thanks, everyone, for the advice. I'll certainly take it to heart. This evening, I did 21 minutes of side stroke laps at the Field House pool. I was pretty much exhausted when I finished (I had to rest nearly 10 minutes to recover). But the change was exhilarating.
