HI,
New start today - the only exercise I am really confortable with is swimming but how do i work out exactky how many calories i am burning?
I usually just use the generic '30mins breastroke general' on here but I'd like osmething more acurate.
Any help?
Thanks

The only way to be fairly accurate is to use a HRM (Heart Rate Monitor) with chest strap. The Polar F7 is reasonably priced and water resistant for swimming.0

Be sure that a HRM will actually work for swimming, I have heard that HRM will not work properly in water, the sensors don't pick up properly. They are water resistant for sweat and for when the wearer may be getting wet, think triathlons. They wont be using the HRM for the swim portion but for the run and bike portion.
I do not have any personal experience with this though.
HRM monitors are good for steady state cardio exercises.
My suggestion would be to use a few online calculators and average it out.0 -
I just use the swimming leisurely option and then cut it in half. I may be undercutting my calories but MFP usually overestimates. I'd rather be safe than sorry.0
