New fitted gastric band and Hungry

Hi all I'm really need some advice and help. I had a Gastric band on the 13/4/13, so I'm 8 days in. I've started having mashed up soft food but I still feel hungry. So far I've lost 9 lbs but I haven't yet really felt full.
Is this normal?
