resting calories ver execise calories

Cant find it discused anywhere so I thought I'd ask
If you had a resting calories of say 2400 per day equating to 100 calories per hour alive.
and you worked out for an hour burning 500 calories wouldn't that effectively mean you only burnt an extra 400 because you would have burnt 100 doing nothing, Making it a net total of 2800 per day

    Yes.
    Depending on your method of figuring calories, it may or may not be the "net" calories burned.

    Are you using 500 gross or 500 net exercise calories for this example?
