Morning everyone! So this past Saturday I ran the Hartford Marathon up in Connecticut. Pretty good race! The course was nice, weather was absolutely perfect and there was some decent crowd support in a few locations. The course was a bit "hilly" at the beginning but overall certainly not the hilliest course I have ever raced on. Miles 6 through about 25 were for the most part flat.
This race marked my first marathon of the season and my 8th marathon overall. Ran it in a time of 3:35:03 which also was a PR for me so I came out of it pretty happy, although there are a few things I do need to work on. Here are my mile by mile split times:

Mile 1: 8:15
Mile 2: 7:55
Mile 3: 7:53
Mile 4: 8:08
Mile 5: 7:59
Mile 6: 7:55
Mile 7: 7:55
Mile 8: 8:01
Mile 9: 7:57
Mile 10: 7:55
Mile 11: 8:02
Mile 12: 8:01
Mile 13: 7:46
Mile 14: 7:42
Mile 15: 7:52
Mile 16: 7:52
Mile 17: 8:00
Mile 18: 7:47
Mile 19: 8:02
Mile 20: 7:57
Mile 21: 8:05
Mile 22: 8:16
Mile 23: 8:47<
Slowed too much for water
Mile 24: 9:04<
Slowed again for water
Mile 25: 8:55<
What the hell am I doing???
Mile 26: 8:40<
Starting to get back on track
Mile 26.22: 1:52

I was running a pretty good race up until mile 23 when I just slowed way to much to get some water...in the end I couldn't get my pace back up to speed...I was already starting to falter at mile 22 as it was so in retrospect I should never have slowed down as much as I did. I was just starting to get back into the grove at mile 26 and start bringing my times back down but the race ended :(
All in all I am happy...I got a decent PR out of this race..my previous best was 3:39:01 in New Orleans last February but I without a doubt need to work on my last 3 miles.

I ended up finishing 340th overall out of 2209 finishers and 49th of 227 in my age group. I still have a long way to go to get to where I know I can be....but this race is in the books and now it is on to preparing for the Marine Corps Marathon in Washington, DC in less than three weeks.

Thanks for taking the time to read this and if anyone has any helpful advice feel free to share it :) Have a great day everyone an
