I'm trying to get back into the swing of things with exercise and I've started working with a trainer once a week and walking when I can. I trained on Thursday last week and Monday this week. I started to having swelling in my ankle on Thursday night. It was ok most of the weekend and swollen again on Monday night late. Still swollen today.
My question - how long do I take it easy? It's moderately painful, but I'm had sprains before and it's nowhere near as bad as that. I don't want to use this as an excuse to minimize exercise if I should just push through it. Anyone have experience with this?
(also - not sore enough to go to the doctor for sure)

Pretty sure you wouldn't want to know about my ankle experiences :noway:
If the pain is relatively minor, I would say let your trainer know and try to work around it. Ice and elevate after you workout. Give it a week or two. If the pain continues you really have two choices - rest and see if that helps, or go o a doctor. Personally, I would recommend going to a doctor (ortho or sports medicine). There's a lot that could go wrong with an ankle. In hindsight, I wasted a lot of time "resting" and hoping for improvement, when I could have just gotten the issue diagnosed and treated sooner.

Thanks! I really appreciate the feedback. I don't train again until Monday, so we'll see how things are between now and then I guess.0
