Foot pain with 30 day shred, Zumba, etc.

*I know I need to either go get fitted for different shoes, or see my doctor which I am planning on doing.

I have had this issue before when I was doing Zumba a couple times a week, but just pushed through the pain and still pushing through now. My workout regimen lately includes doing the 30 day shred 3-4 times a week and straight cardio 2 times a week (usually a 2-3 mile brisk walk). Earlier this year I trained for and walked a 10K with basically no foot pain at all. Now it is back, particularly since I started 30DS Level 2. My feet (on the outside part) hurt and burn so bad that sometimes I have to stop.

Just wondering if anyone else has had this problem, foot pain on outsides of feet and what you have done to help it? I have tried changing different tennis shoes I have (from running shoes, walking shoes etc) and I have even tried to do it barefoot (yes, I know that is bad).

I have flat feet so I am used to having issues with foot pain pretty much all my life, but I want to be able to workout and not have to stop due to the pain! Help!

I always get fitted for proper footwear so only get foot pain when my shoes are wearing out. Defo see your doctor, if you have flat feet then he may be able to refer you to an orthotics specialist who can create appropriately-shaped insoles for your shoes.

I'm flat footed as well. I can't do zumba without foot pain wearing shoes. I just take them off and it feels much better.

It's actually not bad to do your home workouts barefoot! After doing a bit of research, I settled on giving my Jillian Michaels DVDs a try sans shoes and it's been awesome. I do still don my fitted New Balances for running outdoors, obviously, but my flat feet have thanked me for going shoeless for the Shred.

Just a thought.............how are your socks? I find when I'm using crappy old socks (losing elasticity, whatever) ....my feet will kind of slide around in my shoes. Not a good foundation.

I was thinking about getting of those "barefoot" shoes for running because my feet have a tendency to hurt while running too and the only time I remember them not hurting was when I took off my shoes for a run a few days. Felt awesome until I stepped on a thorn

I usually wear "athletic" socks so my socks are pretty fitted. I have tried the 30DS barefoot and I was still in pain :(

A girl on my 10K training team wears those "barefoot" running shoes. They looked pretty neat wonder if they are comfortable....

Getting walk/gait professionally tested would be a good thing to do,
to analyze your foot strike, stance, walk, gait, etc.

People have different foot issues and have differing needs.

Do not work through the pain, the pain is telling you something is wrong.
You could cause yourself stress fractures,
go get tested and fitted for proper foot support.

Here is a shoe clinic video that may be helpful.

Zumba can be hard on the feet. You might want to look into getting a pair of insoles or new shoes just for zumba. Reka makes a couple of good "dance fitness" shoes or Zumba.com sells them too of course. I teach 4 days a week and my feet started to hurt awful. I kept my Reka's but bought some good insoles for them and they've felt much better.
