Lipo

Hi!...So, I've been doing this since January and lost a total of 5 pounds. I know that when there is less to lose, it's harder to do so, and I have about 15 less to lose. But...I'm thinking of just throwing in the towel and investing in some lipo. I know it's the ONLY way to get rid of fat cells, with exercise, they just shrink.
What are all of your opinions? I wouldn't do it until August or September when I move to Miami, because I know there are more plastic surgeons there. ..opinions?

its not for me & just think of how you feel if you do this by diet alone ?0

Another issue is if you don't correct the problems by eating healthy and excersize, the lipo is only a temporary solution. You can put that weight back on again and again! Just something to think about.0

I eat healthy...that's not my issue. Always have...my mom's a dietitian. I've NEVER been this big...145 is big for me. I like to exercise and am a pretty active person, so I'm pretty positive it won't come back. It's that leftover weight from school, and partying everynight....too many alcohol calories..I don't drink but once a month now....
I'll have to keep thinking.0 -
Something just to consider....
I have had a couple of friends who had it, and it was *not* a pleasent experience. A lot of pain for not a great amount of gain. One friend had a fair big taken off, and her body just kinda refilled it.
The more serious thing though, is my friend who went in for it, and almost died from a staph infection. Just be careful. :frown:0 -
Lipo isn't a cure-all...your fat cells can both grow in size and number to house a pretty much infinite amount of triglycerides. Sucking a few million out won't prevent that. On top of that, it's a highly invasive and painful surgery that results in a lot of bruising and inflammation. Plus it's expensive! Is that really worth 16 pounds?0

There are serious side effects as mentioned above. Plus I heard something about the danger of clots/stroke; I can't remember clearly. Just be sure to do your research on the possible detrimental effects. Are 16 lbs worth it?0

I work for a plastic surgeon and I'm still not sold on it! Some people get good results but some don't. It is not intended to be done for weight loss, it is for body contouring. Even though your fat cells in that area will be gone, you may gain weight in other areas. The swelling could last up to 6 months afterwards and i could make your skin appear more dimply and feel lumpy. I have seen young people that have a small area done and it does great and their skin kind of shrinks up but if you have large areas you could have loose skin afterwards.
It would really be my last resort, I think you can lose it on your own, if you are going to wait until after summer anyway I would just try to lose as much as i could!
There are plenty of side effects to go with it too. you could get a blood clot or a serious infection. There is alot of staph going around out there.
Just be careful and if you do go through with it please do your research on your doctor. Make sure he is a board certified plastic surgeon.

im some one who has had cosmetic surgery but only cause i had to i would be big as a house if i hadnt had my boobs cut down. reduction saved my life but i wasnt working on a sickness benifit depressed my life was hell so id say was needed but hell going through that just for vanity (not that im saying you are doing it for that reason)
i have thought about lipo or tummy tuck type thing as i feel im all tummy and its not shrinking . but i will purserver for longer as this realy is the healthy way to go . you have to weigh up the risks and rewards. but in the end its what you want to do id say keep going hard on here and tweaking your eating and excercise and re eveluate closer to when you were thinking about doing it you may find you are closer to your target than you think.0
