bloke trying to lose weight

Hi all

my name is rob I have decided to lose some weight currently I am around 19st so I need to drop about 5st (about 14lbs to a stone). I am trying this 5-2 diet so any advice on goos things to eat on fasting days would be good.

    I've only recently heard of the 5-2 diet. Sounds interesting, I'm generally a fan of fasting (on occasion), but what made you decide to try this one? Sounds restrictive for someone just starting out. The info I read said you should eat your 500 calorie fasting days (or you might get more since you are a guy) in one meal. To me this makes more sense than trying to nibble on things throughout the day. Eat whatever you want I guess...but choose the meal that you have the most time for. Good luck! :drinker:

    Hi Rob. I started at 18st 5lbs and am now around 15st following the 5:2 diet :smile:

    There is a 5:2 diet group on here that will give you lots of help and info.

    I myself have all the books about the 5:2 diet but have so far not tried it, I have no doubt that I can do it, but I am just one of those people that like to have it all in place and know exactly what meals I will be eating on the 'fast' days lol.

    I know for a man you would get 600 calories to eat on your fast days, which isn't too bad. Looking at my 5:2 receipe book you should be able to load up on lots of salad and vegatables along with some protein.

    I'm maintaining now on a 6:1 eating pattern but today happens to be a fast day. Planning on having a tuna Nicoise salad for lunch and chicken with green beans for dinner.
  • Thanks for this I think I made a fatal mistake today and had brwakfast! Doh I am out waljibg a lot so have decided to fast on Monday instead I like the idea of tuna salad and chicken for dinner though
