Hi Everyone!
I've started using My Fitness Pal to keep track of my foods which I eat during the day, can I ask how many calories on average a woman should eat a day to lose weight? I want to lose about 2lbs a week.
I have up until recently been following Slimming World, does anyone track on MFP and follow Slimming World at all?
I've allowed myself 1,500 calories today, is this too many?
Any help would be greatly appreciated

Got to Settings and Update diet/fitness profile. Fill in the information and it will set your calorie target.0

How many calories you should be eating is going to depend on your stats (height, weight, age, activity level) as well as your goals.
This link is going to walk you through the two most popular ways to figure your calorie goal: http://www.myfitnesspal.com/topics/show/819055-setting-your-calorie-and-macro-targets
I also recommend these three links to anyone new to the forums:

^ this. every body is different -- age, height, current weight, goal weight.

The risk with using the settings alone is that from what I can tell the calorie setting is based on only two entries - activity level and weight loss goal. My settings are all accurate, I have double checked. I chose sedentary because I have a desk job. The weight loss goal setting has no guidance attached so of course I chose 2lbs a week. Who doesn't want to lose at that rate?
So with that I get 1200 calories. I'm 6' tall and have 23lbs to lose. Based on *all* my stats most people would not recommend a 1200 calorie diet for me. I would never have known that though had I not read these forums.0
