Are there any dentists?

I am 42 years old and healthy overall. I have 4 crowns which have been replaced 4 times in 24 years and had 2 gintivitis operations related with these crowns. Yesterday, 2 of those crowns broke and today the dentist recommended me to replace them with implants. My only concern is that the roots of those 2 teeth are healthy, giving up them doesn't feel right. And tonight my husband brought the idea of asking a second opinion so I will definitely do that. Meanwhile I wanted to post it here incase anyone would like to answer.
