5'11 150. For the past several days I have eaten 400 carbs of oatmeal and fruit, but kept protein high. I have noticed it feels like I have gained weight in lower abdomen and it's really soft. Is it water retention from carbs? I have stayed in my calories. I'm confused it feels like I gained fat in my abdomen

Are you telling us you only eat 400 calories per day? This is not healthy. I would guess you should eat at least 1400 calories every day to lose weight.
Take measurements and pictures if you want to know where you're losing fat or gaining muscle.
Edit to add: you're male? I would guess you should eat at least 1800 calories per day, then. At least.0 -
I eat 2400 calories but the last few days I've had 400 carbs and thinking that May be why I'm having issues0

I'd call it fiber retention in the intestines. Assuming you're not moving it out about as fast as you're moving it in.0

400 grams of carbs could make you retain some water, sure.0
