Stopping when full-what to do with the left over :S

Hey lovely people, as the title says, I'm currently fighting a battle where my brain doesn't like seeing food still in the bowl/on the plate even if my stomach is full. I'm trying to train myself to stop when full but I don't like wasting food (silly I know).
So here's my question, when you are full and there's food left, do you save it for the next meal, or bin (a bit of a waste but it might teach me). Also, I've found that I'll be full and happy for a whole 20-40minutes after eating, I drink a lot of water to try and tackle the confusion between hunger and dehydration but that doesn't satisfy it. So would you suggest eating the remaining meal until full again or trying to keep busy until the next snack/meal.
A few questions in there but you have no idea how many times I pressed back, and new post and back xD
I hope my post isn't confusing :S
Thanks in advance lovelys

Buy some cheap freezer containers and have one ready to pit your leftovers in straight away. Pop it in the freezer and it'll be cold and less appealing in about 5mins, you can then have it for lunch the next day or as another dinner option on nights you don't want to cook.
As for feeling hungry afterwards, try slowing down when eating, count to thirty in between forkfuls, or put your fork on the table between mouthfuls. Drink water during the meal but don't bloat yourself on it or it will give a false feeling of fullness.0 -
save those leftovers! take them to work for lunch or something0

I don't think its silly at all, I think its a virtue to not waste food. Having said that, I really agree, get that tupperware out and get it out of sight. Staying away from the TV helps me with nocturnal grazing, doing puzzles, reading, late walks. Timing meals toward bedtime helps me too, nothing helps more than going to bed full.0

Ah! I know exactly what you mean!
My problem is that once I've calculated how much I'm eating (I always do this beforehand, it keeps me from being impulsive) I don't want to go through the trouble of redoing the math and changing my entries. :ohwell: A lot of times I'll eat way past my comfort level just because I'm determined to eat every calorie I recorded in my diary.
Then I realized that if I just kept the leftovers for a mid-day snack instead of preparing something else, I wouldn't have to change my diary at all. Two birds, one stone!0 -
Thanks for the replies I'm going to try freezing/saving for next meal or snacks, I'll be testing it over the next few days haha
Thank you again! Xx0 -
Don't force yourself to eat unless you need the calories, and only put on your plate what you need for that meal. Personally I pre-log and I do make myself finish my allotted meal as I can be tempted to undereat. But my meals are only 3-400 calories. Once you've finished the meal, it's done, if you're hungry an hour later don't eat more of it. Nothing wrong with being hungry sometimes. Grazing won't do you any favours. But maybe it means you need to eat more or different foods at your meal times if you're not staying full for long.
Arguably it's not great to drink lots of water at the same time as eating, this can cause a false sense of fullness and also make food exit your stomach quicker, as well as not being great for your digestion in general. If you're eating properly you shouldn't need to fill up on liquids at mealtimes. And it's good to train your body what the appropriate level of fullness from food is, rather than trying to mask it so it never learns.
And nothing wrong with leftovers! We eat leftovers every other day.0
