how does burning calories work?

My doctor told me to eat 1460 calories per day, and I burn 300 calories by walking per day, does that mean I can eat 1760 per day and still maintain? Or is that not how it works? Lol:smile:

Did he tell you to eat 1460 to lose weight, or to eat 1460 to maintain?

If it was to lose weight and you ate back your exercise calories, you should theoretically lose weight. But that's assuming his calculation didn't include that exercise and you truly are burning 300 calories per day.

Well it depends. If your doctor told you to eat 1460 per day - then I wouldn't eat back exercise calories. Some people do some people don't.

You just have to do what works best for you, if the 1460 is leaving you hungry than sure eat the calories that you burned during exercise. BUT if you find you aren't losing weight that way - then you may want to consider sticking to 1460

    Hope that helps.

Yes, LOL. That's how it works. If he told you to eat that amount to lose or maintain or whatever your goal or his for you is, then yes eat back the calories you workout and you will be following his instructions. LOL.
