Resistance Training

I've been losing weight for about a year now and in total, I've lost 27 pounds. I've now slimmed down to the point where I'd like to start resistance training to give my body some definition, but I'm a tad confused on something!
I've been hearing that there's some muscle groups that you shouldn't work together and I have absolutely no idea why or which muscle groups they are!
I know there's probably a lot of posts on here about this, but I haven't been able to find any and would really appreciate it if someone could help me out

TBH, when you are starting out strength training - whole body workouts are perfectly fine.
