HELP with pretty much everything

I have been using MFP for a while now but have in the last 2 weeks been using it as I should be.
I have also been using the App ease into 5k and went for a run twice on one day earlier this week I came home and done some ab work - I have now torn/strained something in mt chest wall ( the G.P says), however it feels as though my lung is being stabbed whilst breathing. This also happened 2 weeks ago
My Question is should I continue with these types of excercises once it has healed as the GP said that it will continue to occur and the only way to reduce this is build on my core - Which I plan to do and he suggested core excercises - Would Yoga or Pilates Help
new to all this excercise any advice appreciated.

I would follow your doctor's advice as s/he is going to know your body and its condition and needs better than any amateur expert on here.0

I do pilates to strengthen my core < as suggested by my consultant (I have back and joint problems)
