Mmmm salt and vinegar. Love that flavor combo. I've been known to drown my french fries in malt vinegar, salt and ketchup. May sound gross, but once you try it, you'll understand.

Yup. But as someone said it's very common over here. As is vinegar on fries - standard.

I'm curious now, what's a standard American flavour for crisps/chips?

It seems like a lot of the people here (USA) like bbq crisps or just plain crisps and they dip them in dips of various flavours. I think sour cream & onion is popular.

Love Salt and Vinegar chips! For while they had dill pickle flavored Lay's chips and I really loved those too.

I also crave Walker's Prawn Crisps, but due to being in the US, I'm rarely able to indulge in them.

I have tried ketchup flavored chips and crab seasoning chips which were both good. I saw hamburger and hot dog flavored ones once, but wasn't brave enough to try those.

I grew up eating English-style fish and chips (fries) in Eastern Massachusetts and then a local potato cop company stared making them. They were bought by Frito-lay and they started selling them nationwide. I still love them but I prefer the thicker, kettle-style on the rare occasions that I indulge!

I can agree on this. Seems a lot of people here like plain, sour cream & onion, and bbq chips. You would more than likely see these go to flavors at parties.

Me, myself, love Salt & Vinegar. lol.... Garlic vinegar and salt on fish, salad.. lol... mouth watering again. lol

Agh, just ran downstairs to the little convenience store in our building and got some S&V... :)

Salt and Vinegar chips are my biggest snacking weakness. Old Dutch and Miss Vickies are my favourites. Dill pickle is a close second, especially the PC dill pickle chips.

Plain chips I won't even touch. Hubby's sour cream and onion are usually safe from me, too. But any S&V in the house gets demolished in short order. Therefore, they're not currently in the house. hehe
