Fluid retention

I have increased my daily water intake to about 10-12 glasses a day and am now having fluid retention. I weigh about 185 and exercise daily. I dont have a high sodium intake. Before, I was only drinking about 4-8 glasses a day. Any suggestions on reasons why?
