Feel like I've cheated myself.

I live on a farm and have got into the habit of walking up a dirt track and round some old stubble fields, in total I do five miles. Yesterday I did the walk using the map my walk app and burnt just over a thousand calories. Today after a third of an inch of rain I was messing with the settings and put it onto hike mode. I've just finished the walk and it was loads harder than yesterday (took 8mins longer) because the ground was so soft. I've allegedly burnt 1500 calories today, which is great, but I feel like I have cheated myself. What is the difference between a hike and a walk? Which setting should I be using?

I doubt you are burning that many calories walking 5 miles. I would use a HRM to figure out your calorie burn.

I wouldn't use it. It's not very accurate. I have a fit bit and for a 5 mile walk I burn about 500. You may be over estimating.

    a 5 mile walk I burn about 500.
Yes, 100 cals/mile is a good ballpark estimate for walking.

I use a Garmin and according to it, it takes me 2.5 hrs. (27ish miles) on a hilly bike ride to burn over 1100 calories. I would say switch products.

Ok thanks for the advice, feel down now though. Will look into buying something a little more accurate. Thanks again
