HMMMMMM...what is a scale? Don't own one and won't buy one. No way!! I use the gym scale once a month. I hate scales:huh:
Scales are evil...but I do love my tape measure:smile:
  • I have a Weight Watchers scale that I purchased at costco. I've only had it for 4 months, but my parents have had the exact same one for 4 years and it is still just fine. I love it and it's digital. :flowerforyou:

I have one of the WW ones that also does body fat % - but it can definitely be finicky. I get reasonably consistent results only because I make sure to leave it in EXACTLY the same spot on the floor, and then I get on and off it about 5 times right when I first wake up in the morning. But if I get on it, then brush my teeth, then get on it again, I may see a difference of +/- 3 pounds. Or if I use the toilet after getting on it, I'll GAIN a couple pounds. So I just make sure I do the EXACT same routine every morning, and then I feel like it's basically consistent, even if not totally accurate.

Oh, and I have to make sure I weigh myself before my husband does (he's heavier than me), because otherwise I'll be a few pounds heavier. :ohwell:

I'm using a little flat white scale that's about 72 inches long, about half an inch wide, and has numbers on it (1 thru 72 about an inch apart). I wrap that about various body parts and compare it to past measurements. It's awesome, cuz it's never "off by a couple of pounds", and it never needs batteries!

My newest is an Omrom Body composition monitor with scale. It has pads for your feet and a hand grip. Supposedly sending that current through you two ways gives you a better reading.

It gives Body fat %, Visceral fat, lean body mass and BMR.... oh yeah and your weight.

    I think it was $70 from Bodybuilding.com.

Awesome Tim, thanks for he heads up on this. I've been looking for a comp monitor that I didn't have to get a loan to buy. Do you find it pretty accurate?

To be honest i dont know. The tape method i also us( http://www.linear-software.com/online.html)gives a lower result but you have to remember (it says it in the owners manual) people who are more muscle may not find the readings accurate. so what i do is at the same time every monday morning i weigh myslef then go through some mesaurements, including those i need for body fat, then i average the two and use the result as my base. I dont know how accurate it is but i know its going down most weeks as my waist gets smaller.
