Every Saturday I write out a meal plan for the week, come up with a list of ingredients required, and then order my groceries online for pick-up later in the day. I tend to maximize certain meals for left-overs. For instance, I can get 2-3 meals out of a pot of tomato sauce or casserole dish of baked chicken.
I had a metabolic assessment done yesterday and met with a nutrition consultant. I've some new goals around better balancing my calories between fats, proteins and carbs with the aim of hitting the balancing with each meal. For example, my typical breakfast is 3 fried eggs and 3 pieces of bacon ergo I need more healthy carbs from veggies for breakfast as the protein and fat are well covered.
Bottom line is I'm a little stuck on my meal planning today. I'm looking for an application that will help me plan my meals so I can get a quick read of total calories and how they're balancing across the 3 types. I want the capability to build out common meals I like to cook - like honey-drizzled cedar plank smoked salmon with jasmine rice or ribeye steak with burgundy mushrooms and lemony-garlic pan seared asparagus. I know I could do this in MFP by creating meals, but I'm looking for something more purpose built.
Any suggestions?
