The Juggling Act

I feel like I am the juggling act in a show of some sort. My constant battle between working two jobs as well as trying to complete my Master's degree leaves me time for not much! I was doing so well and then when things slip up it seems that diet and exercise is the first to go! YUCK!! How are you able to juggle everything?!?!!!?!?!

I just started and already I have a deficit. Today for example, got stuck at work in a meeting and didn't make it to the gym. I'm still trying to figure out how to mass produce time.0

You are realllly busy! I know all of the things you do are really important, but you're not going to be able to do them if you don't take care of yourself. Sometimes you just have to tell people "I need this time to take care of myself, and if I don't, I will fall into a hundred little pieces on this little patch of floor, right here, no, just right here." Sometimes you have to tell people you need some time for yourself. Squeeze in four 5 minute exercises a day and bam! That's 20 minutes of exercise you're getting. Have fruits and veggies around. They're easy to grab and go. I make extra meals on the weekend that way they're ready for the week.
Hope some of this helps.

i multi-task. im work part time, stay at home mom the rest of the time. my son is 6 and is autistic and needs a lot of attention and i have 2 girls, ages 4 and 2. i have very little work out time. so i break it up into small bursts of 10-20 mins at a time. and i work out while i do household tasks. like i jog in place when i fold laundry, do squats while i wash dishes, if i have paperwork (like balancing the checkbook or whatever) i lay on the floor and do leg lifts while i work on it. i intentionally make extra trips up and down the stairs of my house while i take laundry up/down the stairs. little things like that do add up and is better than nothing at all.0

I know what you are talking about. I completed my collegue education while raising a family; husband, two overly active boys, 3 dogs and 2 cats. Sleep was a luxury. I made sandwiches with one hand while I held my books with another. I sat in the car with my books studying for tests while the boys practiced their sports in the park.
I was not easy, but it was duable. I wish I had internet and this kind of database and support system back then. I also warked part time at the university during my senior year and with a co-worker we supported each other as much as we could. She didn't have any children and she was done with school, so her demands were different.
We used to buy a sandwich at the book store and a fruit, and split them in half, and that was our lunch (plus loads of coffee). We saved calories and money. I enrolled in PE classes at the university so I could get some credits and also get some exercise. I took advantage of the racketball courts and played with a friend or my husband once a week. During lunch, a walked around campus and parked my car far from the buildings, and I never took the elevator. Using the stairs carrying books was also a workout.
When the weather was nice, I walked after dinner with my husband. We lived in an area with streets with steep slopes, so it was a good workout. I was younger then, so a little bit of exercise helped a lot.
Don't get discourage, you can do it. Find a friend at work or at school that is willing to share a workout or a meal. If you don't find anybody, look inside yourself and I bet that you will find a friend in there. I did.
I know that you will be tired but logging your food is important to keep you in track. Keep on moving and posting. You will find more support and encouragement from all of us than from fattening food, and we will not load you with calories.
Good luck at school!:flowerforyou:0 -
Thanks!!!!! I am going to start getting up a little earlier and squeeze some things in here and there. I figured if I ease into getting up early then it won't be such a shocker. Baby steps!!0
