I'm barreling towards my goal here firing on all cylinders, and other than missing a single gym trip on account of a sore ankle i feel mostly alright, but...
I've been doing the gym five days a week, elliptical 35 min at 8mph each day, with three sets of bench/curls/crunches/push ups one day, and shoulder leg press and pulldown on the alternate day.
also each day i take an hour ling 4.5 mile walk, doing that five, sometimes six days.
am i going to potentially hurt myself doing this, and as importantly, will i gain weight back fast if i. hit goal and scale the caardio back about half t focus more on lifting, assuming i bump my calories about 500 t level off my deficit?

Good question. Everyone's body is different as you know. Although you feel great now, in a few months or longer you may experience physical and/or mental burnout from your busy fitness regime. That's the only way you could potentially hinder yourself in the exercise/weight loss dept. aside from your fitness schedule, when you reach your goal (?), scaling back your cardio and decreasing your calorie consumption creates a deficit, so I don't believe you would gain weight back. Plus I'm assuming you will still do the 4.5 mile walk which is good. Once you do reach your goal, and are focusing more on strength training, do remember that muscle weighs more than fat, so if the scale goes up but your clothes still fit, don't worry about the change on the scale (if it even happens) your just increasing your muscle tone.
I've exercised my whole life, I grew up on competitive sports teams, so exercise is something I love. However, Before christmas I was training a lot, 5-6 days a week, and All of a sudden I experienced physical burnout. Feeling physically burnt out when it comes to exercising influences mental stamina/burnout. I got over the burnout by taking a few months off, I was not entirely happy about taking so much time off but it worked for the most part as now I'm getting back into training. Sorry, lol, My point is that if you ever feel tired on the day you go to workout, take a day off.
Btw I love the idea of long walks, I may try doing more walking myself! Now that the nicer weather is here:)
I wish you the best, let me know how you do!0 -
i've been having heel problems for almost 6 months now... and i must admit i should stop walking to give it time to heal... but i can't.. seem to do it.... I enjoy walking so much...
my wife is telling me to start using the stationary bike for a while but that doesn't interest me at all... i just hate indoor cardio..0
