How to convert own recipe for serving size

I know a recipe says serving size 6, what I want to do is weigh my entire recipe in ounces or grams and then be able to take my serving size by that (rather than how many servings, doing it by weight). Does that make sense? I'm trying to figure that out but I don't know how to do that when I build my own recipe in MFP. Any ideas? Thanks!

Perhaps it would be nice if MFP did an enhancement for this. What you can do is an arbitrary number of servings, maybe even just 1, or 8. Or 10. Weigh the batch. When you take out a portion, calculate what fraction of the batch the portion is and log it, say, 1/8th of a serving
Personally I use servings, and if it's something uniform like beans I can then weigh the batch and take the weight that matches one serving each time. Some people prefer to pre-portion in separate containers to make it easy. If it's chicken i try not to sweat it; just say one piece is a serving, especially if I'm the only one eating the entire batch, all of it will get logged eventually though each "serving" may not be spot on
Example: beans, 8 servings. Total weight: 1200g. Serve up 1200/8 = 150g each time for simplicity and log it as 1 serving. If I really want 200g, calculate 200g/150 g per serving = 1.33 servings and log that in MFP0 -
Thanks! I'll try that.0
