Jillian Michaels 30 Day Shred

i just started the 30 day shred and WOW! it was so fast paced and hard. I only use 2kg weights because I just started lifting but these weights still beat me. I hope this workout routine works i used to do denise austin cardio blasts but they just seemed to slow.I was just wondering if most people do more exercise on top of the 30 day shred workout and if they can see or feel results?

At level 1, I burn 200 calories. I weight 188lbs though. From my experience the more you weight, the more you burn. I thought I was burning more because the dvd made me sweat so much, but my watch said just 200. Level 2 was 215.

As far as the dvd itself, I'm not a huge fan. I have other dvds that I feel give a much better work-out and that burn the same if not more calories.

As far as results, I did get stronger quicker, and my butt was getting smaller but I hurt my back and had to stop. Good luck with your shred!

I did the full 30 day shred. Only lost a lil, not much to make it worth it. But I have heard others had seen really good results from it. The workout does put a lot of strain on the knees. My knees got so bad by day 15 I had to do other things (Like punches and kicks) instead of jumping jacks and jump rope.
  • oooo okay. thats kind of worrying!

Have a look around for some kick boxing workout videos. I have done one before, can not remember what it is called though, but it made me work out just as hard as 30 day shred, but without any knee injuries haha
  • ok i will check it out!

I'm on day 18 and don't see massive results but I think it's worth it. To prevent knee injuries you need to stick your tushie out in squats. I also do zumba 3 times a week and I know I will probably see more progress towards the end. I've gained nice muscles and a bicep which is actually nice, my face and legs are leaner and of course my belly seems smaller. Not by much, but at least I'm doing something. I plan on doing Ripped and No more Trouble Zones when I finish, I also love the kickboxing workouts, JM's is good but try Denise Austin's one too. Shaun T Hip Hop Abs is also on youtube, I found a lot of great reviews, it's a good sweaty cardio session too. Good luck and stick with it, you never know :)
  • Thanks so much! I need more videos and workout ideas :)

I love Jillian. The knee issues come from doing the wrong form or previous issues being irritated by the moves. I did her 30DS and her RI30, one right after the other. As is one during February and the other during March. I took measurements, which was a life saver because I only lost 3 lbs. At the end of the second month I had lost a total of 8.5 inches everywhere! I thought that was amazing results for a home video. You can't expect a miracle in one month. What she does, does work, but you have to put in the effort. Follow the form, and I only did 5 times a week. But I also weight 200lbs. You, at 113 lbs, will probably just built muscle and sexy definition with her videos if I am being honest with you.

I am also a huge fan of Billy Blanks Tae Bo videos. I do not have the newest one yet the PT24/7 but I plan on buy it after I buy my treadmill for my house. I have all of his videos except that pack and I love it. Fast pace, fun, changes it up. I slip him in there when ever I can't handle anymore creepy lesbian remarks from Jillian...they happen more often in the Rip In 30. Oh yeah, her Yoga Inferno is not for beginners or the faint of heart. I did it once and couldn't move for 3 days. It was way too hard.
